My Olay Retinol 24 Experience

This post is sponsored by Olay. All thoughts and opinions are my own!

If I could give one word of advice to my eighteen year old self it would be to start taking care of my skin right then and there. Fast forward 12 (almost 13) years and I am still testing out products that compliment my skin. I thought I was low maintenance when it came to my skin, but over the past two years I realized that like everything my skin changes with climate & travel, aging, hormones, and even the products that I use. Think about it, if you have dry skin and are constantly using products that have oily properties, your skin will eventually become overly hydrated. This is when I started adding steps to my skin care regimen to create the perfect balance on my skin and to maintain glowy and smooth skin.

If you saw my previous IG post and stories, you know I mentioned that like many other products, I had previously used retinol in my nighttime routine. My first, and only experience with retinol was far from successful. I’m not sure if it was my fault and I overused the product, but it dried up my skin especially the areas around my nose, eyes, and mouth. I’m guessing these are the more sensitive to retinol areas, but all in all I was not sold on the product. I was a bit hesitant on trying out the Olay Retinol 24 collection, but when I read over how Olay tried to improve some of the negative experiences women had in the past, I decided to give it another shot.

If you don’t know much about what retinol is, how it works, and what it does for your skin, you’re not alone. I only knew that my dermatologist recommended it, but I found that it is legit the #1 product recommended by dermatologists. I also found out that more than half the peeps out there using retinol give up on it after one month’s use! (Clearly I wasn’t alone here either!) Not only this, but the Olay website gives a thorough explanation of what exactly you will be applying to your face. In a nutshell, retinol is a form of Vitamin A that smooths skin and noticeably diminishes signs of skin damage. I read over some stats that catered to my specific issue in the past – 96% of users did not experience irritation with the new Retinol24 collectionand this is what had me sold to try the Olay Retinol 24 Collection.

I know you are all itchin to know how exactly me experience with the collection went. I started using the collection around mid October, and I was surprised with how little goes a long way. Given my hesitation, I used limited amounts of the product in the beginning, only to find out that this amount was enough and that I could visibly see my skin improving after one week’s use. I was surprised to see how much hydration the product gave my skin. If you are a gal that has experimented with retinol and had dry skin and irritation because of it, I can honestly say I have been there and did not experience it with this product. So much so, that I forgot that I was using retinol because of the 24 hour hydration it provided.

Many of you replied to my DM’s in my IG stories and were asking how to apply retinol into your skin care routine. Well, Olay was amazing enough to give us all three retinol products (serum, moisturizer, and eye cream) to make an easy switch by replacing a current product. Retinol is more of a compatibility product, rather than a high concentration product. The retinol serum use is recommended after your normal cleansing routine. Application of the retinol moisturizer is post your commonly used serum and this moisturizer can replace the one you used previously. Lastly, you can apply the retinol eye cream to top off your normal skin care regimen. Voila, adding retinol to your skin care regimen- complete! It is so easy, I thought of it as a cheat sheet into smooth and brighter skin. Plus, the Olay Retinol 24 Collection is so affordable and a steal for the results I accomplished!

I tried out all three items and I came to find that the Olay Regenerist Retinol 24 Night Serum was the product that worked best for me.  I have always made very big expressions, and unfortunately after many years, it has resulted in lines around my eyes, nose, and forehead. I applied the night serum according to my problem areas — around my eyes, on my forehead, and wherever I saw any visible wrinkle lines. I noticed how quickly my skin absorbed the product and this is one of the main reasons why I continued the use of the serum. After a week’s use I began to notice more even skin tone and after three weeks I began to see softer lines around my eyes.

I began to see actual results without irritation!! The Olay Regenerist 24  retinol serum is made with vitamin B3 and Retinoid complex making it the best retinol out there. The product absorbs into the skin helping you wake up with fresher looking skin. It’s non-greasy and fragrance free so it’s a perfect match for most skin complexions. It was amazing to wear little to no makeup these past days because my skin was looking so radiant and even. You guys all know that I rarely go out without a full face of makeup on because my skin needs to look on point for pictures and events. I swear this retinol serum was a game changer because I no longer have to use as many products to get ready in the morning.

I strongly recommend you give the collection a try or head over to the link here to learn more about the Olay Retinol 24 Collection to see if it’s a good fit for you! I fell in love with the night serum, you too can find your perfect retinol match.  Smooth skin is at the tip of your fingertips !

Hi loves, as most of you know, I’m preggers! I wanted to add this little section to the blog post because I wanted to mention that retinol should not be used while pregnant or breastfeeding. I found out, spoke to my doctor, and discontinued the use of the Olay Retinol 24 Collection. However, I cannot stress enough that the results were there. I will be discontinuing the use of retinol for a few months, but I am eager to use the product again so that I can regain these results. I am heartbroken because my face was really benefitting from the results, but I am so happy that I finally found a retinol fit for my skin complexion. I can’t wait to show you further results post-pregnancy when the doctor recommends I can resume the use of retinol. Stay tuned for more updates!

All my love, Gina.
