My Blazer Binge

Being wrapped in a blazer has come a long way from being an everyday office look. Although,  they definitely serve the purpose of looking more put together  if you are working in a setting where slacks and button-downs, blazers have made its revolution in the fashion world. The model blazer is a short-length usually black fitted piece, but I’ve been more into the trendier items that skew away from the standard blazed tracks.

Look for a print that will live on through the seasons. As seasons come and go, newer trends come flooding in. The ideal fashionable blazer is one you can wear during winter with a turtleneck, spring with a cami, or summer with a bralette (similar to the picture above). I opted for a white blazer with black stripes. This blazer is a bit oversized, but still on the fitted end for my taste in blazers.

The boyfriend blazer or in other words the extremely over-sized blazer is my all time number one. It trumps all other blazer fits and cuts. I usually shop for solid colors in this cut because there is so much fabric that there would be little space to appreciate more than just the color. I like the way that this kind of blazer can take on the characteristics of a dress, a coat, but still have the essential elements that make up a blazer such as accentuated shoulders and an a-line cut. It is such a flattering piece and has even become a must when heading to the airport because it keeps me warm.

A shorter length blazer makes room to appreciate the outfit you are wearing underneath. It is not a focal point in the outfit but it is a smart add on to complete any outfit when you feel there is something missing. It expresses a sense of style and more times than not works out with any other piece (this meaning a dress, shorts, a maxi, a wide-leg, etc).

It took me awhile to dip my feet into the statement blazers. It is a piece that you will probably wear once or twice with the same people because it makes an impact on what you are wearing. I’m all about neutrals and finding ways to reuse items, but once in a while you want to make a lasting impression and a smart way to make that is with a blazer. It’s a form fitting and flattering piece that will make you memorable with friends, fam, and colleagues.
