Currently Loving Leather

One of the things I look forward to when starting a new year is having a clean slate in many aspects of my life, this including my clothes! If you know me, you know I love to stick to basics, so when it comes to shopping for my New Year’s wardrobe I try to keep my staples in check. I’m sure you have your abundant neutral tees, button downs, and v-neck babies in your closet, and if you don’t start there! Those are mix and matchable with almost everything in your wardrobe.

One item, similar to tees, that is very versatile and you can get a lot of use from is a nice leather jacket. A leather jacket adds an edgy touch to any and I mean ANY outfit. If you think about it, any hint of leather adds a biker touch which makes a feminine outfit instantly chic. One of my favorite jacket brands is blankNYC because they have a different spin on the traditional jacket. Their patterns and fabrics are just so unique and special.

We see leather all around department stores, and I think the most challenging things when picking out a good leather option is the quality and the price point. I feel like we’ve all been there, buying a leather skirt when the quality looks amazing but the price point is too high for your budget. Or on the other hand find a really good priced faux leather skirt but not knowing if the first time I’m going to use it it’s going to rip open. Well ladies, I’m here for that middle ground. I’ve found that, stores like Top Shop, BP at Nordstrom’s, Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Revolve, and ASOS, all have amazing options for leather pieces at a reasonable price. I added some of my personal faves at the moment for your shopping needs.

Leather can be tricky especially when dealing with accessories. A handbag, a nice belt, some stylish peep-toes, or even a baker hat can be a nice addition to any outfit in a leather finish. It’s important to be careful when picking out those leather smalls, because we want them to draw attention, but at the same time not overpower an outfit. My personal faves are a bit pricy, but I’ve added some great alternatives for you to shop my look at an affordable rate.

Please, please, never hesitate to ask away on any doubts you might have when styling an outfit!

xx Gina
