Chillier days are ahead and it’s time to swap out that lovely layered look for a storm resistant alternative. I have mixed feelings about coats: On one hard I have this catwalk worthy piece that I feel confident in and keeps me warm when winter days come along. On the other hand, I have a bulky piece of clothing that stays in the back of my closet only to be used maybe once or twice throughout the year. What I usually do is pick out the coats that I wear constantly and store them somewhere other than my closet. I don’t know if I have shares this with you before, but my closet has collapsed on me twice ! So, when it comes to heavier pieces, I decide to bin them and eventually steam them.
I’m sharing with you some of my definite keepers. I love these knee-lengthed outer pieces because they give such a polished look to any outfit. Plus a longer coat adds a slimming effect especially when worn with booties or heels. Notice I usually go for the neural or the timeless print — like leopard. Keeping this palette allows me to combine most of the current pieces in my wardrobe.
I live in SoCal which makes me a baby when it comes to cold weather. I suffer on a chilly day in San Diego; imagine the frost-bite I would get during a snow storm. I love having these items to whip out whenever a trip presents itself or an unexpected cold day hits California. If you love coats, like me, but can’t seem to find the perfect occasion to wear them, try night outings just in case it gets chillier in the evening.
